Well, this is interesting. I have never been asked to do this kind of thing before, outside of a jury, but it does not matter I suppose. I will treat it the same way. Coming into this game, it was one of three I was playing. I was quickly voted out of one game soon after this one started and came in fifth in the other. So soon, this became the only game I was playing. I said all that to try and explain why my attention was divided at times, but of course, real life can do that too.
I was plesently surprised to see that my first set of tribe mates consisted of people that I have played many years with and knew well...Kathy, Amber, and Keith among them. I had class during that first challenge so I could not fully participate, so as a result, I felt that I would be the obvious vote if we lost. Thankfully though, we were safe and I could breath a little easier. The second challenge finally gave me the chance to show what I could do in a challenge, and once again, we were safe. By this point, I was in no solid alliances, but felt as though Amber would try and push for me to go if it came to that. I did not and I still do not trust her.
I should note that by this point. NO ONE had come to me for an alliance, which is strange. Usually by this point, alliance offers are flying everywhere to everyone, so I just took note of this and moved on. I wanted to make sure that whatever alliance I made would be a good one. Though Kathy and I did make a pact to look out for each other, but no formal alliance. This came about the same time that the first tribe switch did, so it was good timing.
By round four, I was starting to notice that I have yet to cast a vote. This was new to me, and it freaked me out a bit. I had also agreed to a "stick together" pact with Tina and Amber. Now, I did not trust Amber in the least, but for short term deals, she is good to have around. Tina, I love to death, and will do anything in the world for her, but it seems as though she has a target on her back in whatever game she plays. This was also the round where Dan Barry went, and that really saddened me as he and I really got along and I planned on officially aligning with him as soon as possible. Unfortunately, I never got that chance.
I am going to fast forward a bit to the merge. Simply because nothing really happened for the few rounds before it, at least not with me. The round before, I had decided that it would be a good time to start solidifying my alliances since I figured the merge was around the corner, I figured that Kathy and/or Tina would be a good start, at least for the short term. Then, the merge happened and I made my first official alliance with me, Gary, Robb and Kathy. I was also good with Tina and Keith, and they were very reliable to go to for a vote, so I felt pretty good about my spot in the game. This round was also the round where I made my first push to get someone out of the game. I was not the mastermind, but I did push my hardest to get Amber out of the game. Citing that now that we were in individual challenges, she could very well ride a wining streak to the finals. Apparently, my argument worked and Amber was sent packing in a blindside vote, which made it that much better. Things got quite for round nine, with no one doing much of anything. At this point, I trusted Gary and Kathy the most and I was starting to warm up to Robb more and more. So I was content.
Round ten is where things got interesting. Keith tells me that Gary, Eliza, Dan and Rob M are together and will not vote for each other. Now this kind of surprised me as I thought that Gary and I were pretty tight. So, I did what I thought was best in this situation. I took Keith's suggestion and formed another alliance with him and Kathy, using Tina for votes. So Kathy and I were in the same two alliances. For the short term, this was a good plan as it put us in the good graces of at least two of the major alliances in the game, in the long run, not so much as I will explain later.
Next came the first real surprise of the game. Dan tells everyone that he wants to go since he is going on vacation. He can't quit, so he tries to get himself voted out. So here I am, voting for him and thinking this is a good thing to be doing so late in the game. To my shock, it is Eliza going home instead. I am surprised, but since I never knew her, it was no big lose, and I move on, and we get Dan the next round anyway.
Round twelve was crunch time. I had been gone for a few days, thus giving me the "inactive" status for some reason, and I had to do some damage control to get the vote off of me and onto Tina. I really, really hated to do it since I do like Tina, but it was either me or her and I was not going to lay down and let myself be voted for. With the help of Keith and Robb, I was able to pull it off and Tina was sent packing. She was NOT happy about it and sent me a few nasty IMs, stating that someone as inactive as me should not be getting as far as I was. This is when the inactive tag really started to piss me off. I was (and still am) putting my all into this game and people are calling me inactive? Wow.
The next round is were the two alliance plan got to be a bad thing. I was in the final six and found myself between Gary and Keith with Rob M and Kathy on the outside. So I have to make a decision on which alliance I want to stay with. At first, I tried to get Gary out, thinking that Keith was the better choice, but then decided to vote for Keith knowing that I had been with Gary the longest, and it was only fair. Keith was not happy with this obviously and made it known.
Unfortunately, Gary had heard that I was trying to go after him, and told me the next round that he would be voting for me that round as retaliation/me before you kind of thing. I told him that I appreciated his honesty, and that I would more than likely vote for him as well that round. Robb and I talked, and decided that Gary was too big of a threat go go further. Kathy had said that she would not vote for Gary or me, and since Robb was immune, her only vote was for Rob M. Robb and I thought that Rob would vote for me along with Gary, so we told him that we were voting for Kathy in hopes to avoid that and he and I would vote Gary, sending him home. So I was pretty shocked to find that Robb and Rob had talked later that night and decided to go for Kathy, with Robb not telling me that sine he thought that she and I were close. We are, but this late in the game, I would have voted for her, and I told him that.
So now it was down to Robb, Rob M, me, and Gary. Gary told me he was voting for Rob M and Robb tells me that he wants Gary gone. So its pretty much up to me and Rob. I thought for a second about voting Rob, and told Gary that I would, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that Robb was right, they jury loved Gary and none of us stood a chance against him. So I sided with the other two and Gary was sent to jury duty.
So here I am, in the final three. I know that there are some out there that do not think that I deserve to be here. I respectfully disagree. I made the choices when I had to, and voted in the best interest of me or my alliance, though I may not have wanted to. I may not win this game, but I am overall pround of the way I played it.
Rudy out.
